Council Archaeology
We provide the Archaeology Service for Dundee City Council, North Lanarkshire Council and East Dunbartonshire Council. Through the provision of advice to planners and guidance to applicants we assist the planning authority in protecting, from inappropriate development, their archaeological heritage.
We operate a development control advice service for each authority's Planning Division, examining relevant planning applications and development proposals submitted. This service supports the authority in meeting their Development Plan policies on archaeology and the relevant the standards set through issued national planning guidance.
The service providing advice on the significance of the proposed development site, the probable impact from the development and the any archaeological investigations, recording, or other mitigation required.
 We also monitor the implementation of archaeological works undertaken in support of developments to ensure their
efficiency.
